Terms of use

Last updated 17 October 2026

The short version. Packwell is a record-keeping tool for your dogs. It is new and free while in early access. It is not a vet and not a trainer, the card scanner can make mistakes, and you stay responsible for checking your dogs' records and following your vet's advice.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using Packwell ("the service", run by John Johnson trading as NettForge, "we", "us") you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. You must be 18 or older, or use the service under the supervision of a parent or guardian who agrees on your behalf. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Your account and your pack

3. Early access

Packwell is in early access. It is provided "as is" and "as available": features may change or be removed, there may be bugs, and the service may be unavailable from time to time. Please keep your own copy of anything important: you can export a backup in Settings whenever you like.

4. Your content

The records, notes and photos you add ("your content") belong to you. You give us permission to store, copy and display them as needed to run the service for you and your pack, including sending vet card photos to our provider for reading. You promise that you have the right to add your content and that it does not break the law or anyone else's rights.

5. Acceptable use

Please do not: use the service unlawfully; try to access other people's packs or data; probe, overload or interfere with the service; upload malware or harmful files; copy or resell the service; or work around limits such as the daily limit on card scans. We may suspend access if the service is being abused.

6. Not veterinary or training advice

Packwell helps you keep records and remember dates. It does not give veterinary advice and does not replace your vet. The typical puppy schedule, feeding ranges and any reminders are general guidance. Always follow your vet's advice about vaccines, rabies, deworming, feeding and your dog's health.

Training programs help you practise and track progress. They do not replace a qualified trainer. Training that involves bite work, protection or aggression carries real risk to people and animals. It should only ever be done under a qualified trainer or club, in line with the law. Packwell records progress only and never teaches protection work.

Breed insights, life-stage guides and tips are general information, not a diagnosis or a promise about any individual dog. Packwell is not an insurer, broker or medical aid and is not connected to one. It only stores the policy details and claims you add, so always check your cover, waiting periods and limits with your insurer.

7. The card scanner

Vet cards are read by artificial intelligence, which can misread handwriting, dates, product names and batch numbers. The service always shows you the result before anything is saved, and you are responsible for checking it. Do not rely on a scan alone for decisions about your dog's health, or for proof of vaccination, such as for rabies compliance, boarding or travel. Keep the original booklet.

8. Reminders

Reminders appear inside the app and can be added to your calendar. We cannot promise you will see or receive any particular reminder on time. Please do not rely on Packwell alone for dates that matter.

9. Plans and payment

The service is currently free. We plan to offer a free plan and a paid plan in future. We will tell you before anything costs money and you will never be charged without agreeing to it first.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using Packwell and delete your account in Settings at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken or if we have to shut the service down, and where we reasonably can we will give you notice and a chance to export your data.

11. Our responsibility

We work hard to keep Packwell accurate and available, but to the fullest extent the law allows we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss arising from missed reminders, errors in records or scans, or the service being unavailable. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act where it applies.

12. Our rights

The Packwell software, design and brand belong to John Johnson t/a NettForge. You may use them for your own personal use of the service, but not copy or resell them.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the service afterwards, you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction over any dispute.
